* Players that are not selected for the league will be fully refunded their registration deposit. The evaluation ice times are no cost.
Cancellation Policy: There will be NO refunds for any reason, medical or otherwise, if you choose to cancel out of a clinic.
A Real CHOICE this Winter for Squirt Hockey
As you already know when it comes to options for the development of your child as a hockey player during the winter season there are almost no choices. Development would depend on the strength and policies of the local association.
Choice Squirt League is about Development
Choice league is a skill based program. Each team will receive about 150 hours of training. The focus of the on-ice practices will be skating, edge work, stickhandling, and team concepts. It takes this level of ice time and high repetition to develop the fine muscle and motor skills needed to someday acheive an elite level. Dryland training including treadmill had been added this year at our new dryland facility 1st Athlete
Player Eligibility
All athletes must be born between 7/1/2000 and 6/30/2002
All athletes that register must participate in an evaluation to determine placement in the league. These evaluations take place from May - August. Once all the athletes are evaluated there will be a player draft to assemble teams to make sure the teams are balanced.
Because this is a program for upper end and potential elite players must meet a certain level of play that will not slow down the team's progression throughout the season. We are trying to greatly narrow the gap between top and bottom skaters on the team. This will allow for the greatest level of improvement and developement by each athlete throughout the season.
League Format
Each team will have about 150 hours of training over the course of the season.
Practices:
Teams will skate approxmately 4 times per week. Each ice time is 1 hour 20 minutes, all on indoor ice.
Games:
Teams will play 40 games which includes, 3 league tournaments. The games will consist of three 20 minute, stop time periods. This is consistant with both College and NHL periods! Most Squirt games in Minnesota use only 12 minute periods.
