We can ignore the fact and attempt to shield young athletes from the physical aspect of the game. But, does this protect them? Or, does it set them up for future injuries by not preparing them fully for the sport?
Choice Super Checking embraces the full game of hockey. The goal is to prepare athletes to be safe, confident, and skilled in all aspects of the sport including checking.
WILL YOUR ATHLETE BE READY?
Super Checking I is based on the philosophy that training athletes at younger ages leads to better competency, a more confident and controlled athlete and decreased chance of injury. This level starts with a thorough checking clinic and has on-going contact training throughout the season. The checking training is a complete and well defined progression with a strong emphasis on protecting and preventing injury.
The goal is to prepare these players to be safe, confident, and able to compete within a few, short years against top athletes in Bantams and High School. A comprehensive, progressive approach is used to teach proper checking technique. The season begins with a thorough checking clinic and continues with ongoing contact training throughout the season.
This is full checking development with the overall goal of training safe, confident athletes with the skills to be able to compete with the best Bantam, Midget and High School players in the state and country. Hockey is a global sport and the bar is constantly being raised. For the potentially elite level player, the skills to compete in all areas of hockey including the physical game must be developed.
For seven years, the Choice winter hockey has been dedicated to offering an alternative option to winter hockey for players and families passionate about the sport and interested in excelling at it.
